We are pleased to invite you to our specialised workshop on the fundamental approaches and techniques of craniotomy. The course is aimed at neurosurgical residents in the advanced stages of their training.
Workshop focus:
- Basic, less complex craniotomies
- Convexity craniotomies and approaches involving the superior sagittal sinus
- Frontolateral approaches to the skull base
- Midline and lateral craniotomies for the posterior fossa
Additional topics:
- Patient positioning and application of the head clamp
- Technical aspects of burr-hole placement and craniotomy
- Handling of surgical instruments
- Dural closure and bone flap reimplantation
Participants will gain a solid understanding of how to perform a range of craniotomies, ensure safe patient positioning, and handle surgical instruments appropriately. Practical, hands-on instruction will also be provided in dural closure techniques and bone flap reimplantation.
